A magical girlfriend story. I never thought I would ever come up with a plot for this, but after getting bored on a long return journey after being out of town for a few days, I ended up getting more or less this. It took about twelve hours to complete this.

I've mentioned the inspiration for this before and I'll mention it here: Between 2005 and 2006, I made multiple trips to Target. During that time, they had display girls on the walls with pure-white skin and no heads! They kinda resembled headless mannequins, but they were cardboard cutouts. They looked so beautiful, I felt disappointed when they were permanently replaced by pictures of normal people within the second half of the latter year. I now have to constantly remind myself that they're obviously not coming back every time I go there now. I think I may have first noticed them during the back-to-school sales of August 2004; if not then, then it was definitely just before returning to school after Winter Break. Unfortunately I could not find any indication on Google that they were even there to begin with, and I don't really expect anyone to remember them.

PS -- Just to clarify, I officially have the Legworld project on indefinite hold. It's been months since I was originally going to reconnect the desktop to the internet. I will continue after getting around to connecting it, whenever that may be.

PPS -- If anyone thinks they can do something of their own with a character like this, I left a suspiciously similar substitute at the end for you to work with.


Update 2016: I searched even harder about a year later, and still couldn't find any evidence that they ever existed. I even searched "headless target" and couldn't find them.

Update 2020: I've all but given up on searching after having no luck even when digging through images of older versions of the store. Despite that, this is probably my favorite story I've written for DA.
